From Reason magazine, long critical of the Iraq War: War is Over, If you Want It. A good point here:
Anti-warriors are sometimes accused of wanting the U.S. to lose in Iraq, just so they can be right. Not so... Besides, lose in Iraq? All the stated goals of this war have been won. Saddam gone, check. WMD threat? No need to speak of it again. Democratically elected government in Iraq? A-yup.
Exactly. Both right and left have had their reasons to deny the fact, but the Iraq war has always been a victory. The post-war will affect Iraq's future, for better or worse, but victory was assured by late 2003.

It would appear the comment spammers are breaking through.

I went to the site "Gabriel Christou" mentions above, and it would seem it's not automated spam but rather the rantings of a genuinely deranged person. I do wonder how the gentleman happened upon this site. Perhaps it is more widely read than I had supposed.

By the way, my recent conversations with Kat (currently back in Baghdad) has given me real, if still cautious, hope for Iraq. I'm happy to see my previous pessimism at least potentially proven mistaken.
