Krugman has an op-ed in the NYT today on this very topic. I don't find him convincing on anything whatsoever, especially his nasty op-ed a few days ago on why conservatives are so scary and ought to be monitored by homeland security. In his op-ed today he is begging the country to stay the course. I think he's getting spooked on all fronts because people are overwhelmingly watching Fox news and Californians turned down a tax hike and he's kind of scared (along with a lot of liberals) though outwardly things aren't so bad from their perspective. Though Obama's popularity remains fairly high, these other indicators could well be bellweathers. At least I certainly hope so!
